General Psychology, PSYCH 1

Introduction to the principal areas, problems, and concepts of psychology. This course is required for the major; students not considering a psychology major are directed to 2.

Ann Kring

Ann Kring is Professor and former Chair of Psychology at the University of California at Berkeley. She received a B.S. in psychology from Ball State University and her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her research has focused on the emotional features of schizophrenia, including the negative symptoms and social engagement. Prof. Kring and her group have also translated laboratory findings into psychosocial interventions for schizophrenia. She collaborates with investigators at Temple University and the Child Health and Development Studies, on the Healthy Brains Project that seeks to identify developmental predictors that influence clinical, cognitive, and neural outcomes in middle age. Prof. Kring has been president of two professional societies (the Society for Research in Psychopathology and the Society for Affective Science), and a board member for the Association for Psychological Science. She is co-author of twelve books and several scholarly papers in the top journals in the field.
