Start-up Entrepreneurship Academy, CRWN 90
Introduction to the basics of setting up a start-up company using the Lean Launchpad/NSF I-Corps model of instruction. Students learn principles of data collection, marketing processes, and resources needed for new companies. The class is articulated around the design of a business plan, in groups of 4-5 students coached by a successful entrepreneur, and culminates in a presentation. The market research for the project involves talking to at least 5 potential customers, partners, channels and/or related experts each week.

Nada Miljkovic
Nada Miljkovic is a multi-disciplinary educator, artivist (artist/activist) and project manager for UCSC's Center for Innovation and Entreprenuerial Development (CIED). Nada teaches the ethics of emerging technologies, digital storytelling, and entrepreneurship courses at UCSC. She is the co-founder and CEO of GetVirtual. She is deeply committed to her community and is the chair of United Services Agency. She is an organizer of TEDxSantaCruz, and hosts weekly live radio interview shows on KSQD and podcast. She has a BS in Construction Management and BA in Philosophy from Purdue University, as well as a Masters in Fine Arts in Digital Arts and New Media from the University of California Santa Cruz. She is currently working on her Ph.D. in Digital Arts. In her previous career, she was a construction project manager specializing in train stations and bridges and was a Caltrans highway inspector. She lives in Santa Cruz with her multi-generational cross-species family.
