Science Compassion, PSCI 189S
The purpose of this course is to teach the ground-breaking science of compassion, which explores the roots of a meaningful, purposeful, and happy life. Students will discover how cutting-edge research is yielding fundamental insights into the nature of human kindness, the origins of empathy, promotion of altruistic behavior, and the benefits of living a more compassionate life.

Nancy Guerra is Dean of the School of Social Ecology and Professor of Psychology and Social Behavior at UCI. She received her BA from UCLA, her MA from USCB, and her doctorate from Harvard. She was on the faculty at UC Riverside for 13 years.
